Drawing the History of Design

Lori Rubeling, Stevenson University Professor of Art + Design, will present her recent practical and professional drawing research conducted in the cities of London and Berlin. This research documents urban activities, museum collections, and architectural environments through drawings and drawn artifacts. Professor Rubeling received a 2016 Stevenson University scholarship research grant to validate several scenarios which connect drawings from design history with contemporary design practice.

Thus drawing and design research offers us analytical strategies for how we can document, think about, and consider how the simultaneous past, present, and future histories of social values, human habits, and technological change intersect with our design culture.
